Very little is known about “The Last Jedi” for now, but the title and what is known about “The Force Awakens” has had a lot of fans guessing. It will only be a matter of months before this upcoming Star Wars movie gets released. While it is speculated that the first trailer for the eighth installment of the Star Wars franchise will premiere next month, there have been a few leaks and plenty of fan speculations online that could or could not be true.
Fortunately,”Star Wars” cast and crew are on total lockdown when it comes to talking about spoilers, while, of course, continuously teasing that there will be a big reveal. This silence will leave the field wide open for plenty of speculation and theories. However, these must be taken with a grain of salt as nothing has actually been confirmed as of the moment.
No, I Am Not Your Brother
For anyone who has ever heard a so-called leak, they might have heard this one before. Theories claim that Rey (Daisy Ridley) is somewhat related to Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). Assuming that this is true, it does not make sense that she does not know his whereabouts.
While others might suggest that Rey and Kylo are first cousins (assuming Luke is Rey’s father), it makes no sense why Rey called Luke by his first name instead of “daddy” when she met with Maz Kanata in the cantina.
There is also a theory that Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Rey could be brother and sister. In the novelization of “The Force Awakens,” Rey actually found him sexually attractive. This could be why Poe is sensitive to the force. Still, it does not explain why he referred to her as “the girl.”
Who Are These Knights of Ren?
The latest trilogy has introduced another class of which Kylo Ren is a member. As of now, barely anything is known about these and fans are quick to guess on the background of who these people are.
These could be the result of some trainee Jedi that survived the assault on his camp, which was briefly seen during Rey’s vision at Maz Kanata’s castle. This could mean that Ren, then inspired by Snoke, led these people in a revolt against Luke before he took the position as their leader.
Rey and Kylo Ren Are On Course to Swap Sides
A theory on Reddit capitalizes on echoing themes from previous installations of “Star Wars” and reinvented them into the new iterations seamlessly. In this instance, it talks about Anakin Skywalker’s drift to the dark side until his final redemption. It would be quite cool if Kylo Ren followed suit from being his dad’s own killer to the galaxy’s savior, while the promising Ren actually went the other way.
This theory also plays on Ren’s apparent sudden development of Jedi powers. This is a huge shift from previous installments where Jedi abilities have been apparent from birth or would develop gradually over time. This could also mean that Ren will turn to the dark side after being inspired by Anakin, while being warned of poor career choices.
‘I Am Your Father’ Part 2
This, perhaps, is one of the craziest fan theories about “The Last Jedi:” What if the reason why Rey is being kept from knowing the truth about her parents is that one of them is Supreme Leader Snoke? While this sounds outrageous, this could actually strike the perfect balance between the original trilogy and the new one.
It has to be remembered that in the original, good guy Luke screams when he finds out that his father is the biggest bad guy in the universe, Darth Vader. It would be pretty interesting and it would come to full circle if this pattern repeated itself.
Who Is The Last Jedi?
This is possibly the biggest question when the title was announced. Of course, the first instinct would be to guess that it would either be Luke or Rey, but this theory suggests that the Last Jedi could actually be Supreme Leader Snoke.
Snoke has been the subject of a lot of nutty theories, probably because very little is known about him aside from him being the Supreme Leader. A new concept reveals that the expansion of the religious architecture is preparing viewers for a closer look into the origins of Snoke. “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” hits the theaters on December 15, 2017.
