A couple of days ago, it was reported in a European magazine how Trump is actually planning on banning the importation of luxury vehicles from Germany, these luxury cars are some of the most famous car brands in the world such as BMW and Mercedes Benz. Based on recent statistics, most Americans who belong to the upper middle class actually owns a German luxury car.

The president basically aims to get rid of them by no longer importing them into the country and make people buy American made cars instead. This is of course in favor of the economy of the United States, and the American auto market. One of the most popular and in-demand American car brands is Tesla. Which is why its founder have actually stated that they are confident about their sales increase in the coming years, especially with the news that they have already managed to find the secret ingredient for the advanced battery energy density.

Tesla’s Advancement of Battery and Its Cost

In the most recent meeting, Tesla founder Elon Musk, who has become one of the richest man in the world for manufacturing these highly advanced cars, may have actually revealed the cost of their battery pack in order to make their vehicles stand out with their competition in the market.

Musk said that one of the most significant ways for them to be one of the best it to achieve that $100 per kWh battery pack. This is because, with that cost, they wouldn’t need to make their vehicles as expensive as the others who are manufacturing gas-powered cars, which would make them go up in the competition ladder.

However, Tesla’s CTO JB Straubel revealed that they are having a hard time talking about numbers in general when it comes to the cost of the batteries. Then again, rest assured that with their recent findings, they will have the car that would benefit the consumers without having to worry about it being too expensive.

He also said the performance is always what matters and they cannot sacrifice performance just because of the cost. Straubel also admitted that they are still working very hard to find things that would make their cars better such as working with laboratories and manufacturers that could give them an answer, but they haven’t found it yet.

But despite that, their chief executive officer revealed that they have managed to get into the energy density as well as the cost of the battery pack, which is a major step for the company. Musk also said that by the end of the year, they are looking to achieve all of it, but it also must depend on how the prices will stabilize in the coming months. The battery cell is the only thing they said they could assure and not exactly the battery pack, but it would still be a big impact on them.

Tesla On The Market

In comparison to other leading car brands in the United States, Audi revealed that they are getting their batteries for $114 kWh, whereas Chevy is actually getting it for a more expensive price of $145 kWh. This is why Musk believes that they have an edge with their $100 per kWh price point.

The Tesla chief executive officer also said that he is seeing the company improving by a good 30 percent when it comes to its volumetric energy density in just 2 to 3 years, with the help of course of the advanced and reliable technology they are using. This volumetric energy density, if out on their current Model S with a fit of 130 kWh, it could push the car for over 400 miles with just a single charge.

With this, Tesla will be able to eventually begin selling their battery backs for approximately $35,000, but of course, that is just an estimate based on the launch price of the Model S at $150,000 to $180,000.

In the said meeting, however, the Tesla founder gave a chance to his followers on Twitter, by actually asking him questions. However, some of his followers have noticed how the people that were chosen, actually have no tweet history and some of them don’t even have any followers. Making it seem as if Tesla just made accounts and ask Musk questions that they are willing to answer. This backlash was neither confirmed nor denied by Tesla or Musk himself.
